What Is An MOT?
MOT stands for Ministry of Transport and was first introduced by the government as the vehicle safety test in 1960. The test was introduced as a basic safety test for a vehicle once it became 10 years old, however, this has gradually been reduced to the current three year ruling. The test initially focused on the vehicles brakes, steering and lights; since then it has changed significantly and now over twenty separate areas of each vehicle is thoroughly checked.
